Golden?
I grew up on a small dairy farm with cattle and two horses. I remember feeding the calves and riding my pony, always seeking adventure—climbing hay bales or scaling the woodpile my dad had stacked. I loved playing school teacher with my stuffed animals in my small bedroom with its Care Bear wallpaper. You’d often find me drawing, sewing, and pretending to teach.
My mom ran the local 4-H club with her best friend, and at just eight years old, she taught me how to sew. My very first project? A Hobby Lobby apron with matching pot holders (yes, I’m showing my age here, lol). Little did I know, those early sewing lessons would plant the seeds of my entrepreneurial journey.
In high school, I continued sewing—mostly because I couldn’t afford to buy clothes, so I made my own. One day, while watching TV (we didn’t have cable until my senior year), I saw a powerful, successful woman on screen and thought, I want to be like her. Inspired, I majored in business in high school and started college intending to become a teacher. But life had other plans. Instead, I opened my first small business: Tailor Tammy,
my very own seamstress shop. I hemmed dresses, crafted bridesmaid gowns, and even made wedding dresses. I loved it but soon realized I wasn’t making enough money to sustain myself. Like many, I took a full-time job—13 years in a government office. The fluorescent lights, unhappy people, and rigid routine just weren’t for me.
With the unwavering support of my amazing husband, I left that job and launched another small business.
Yep, back to sewing again! This time, I ran a business redesigning boats for clients—everything from exteriors to interiors. I thought my business background and sewing expertise would make it a huge success. I poured my heart and soul into it, working 10-hour days, six or seven days a week. But despite my efforts, the business didn’t thrive the way I’d hoped. Eventually, I sold it, walking away with very little money to show for all my hard work. Feeling lost and like I’d failed, I started helping my husband with his small business—for free. I had no idea what was next for me.
Today, My Business Is Thriving — and I’ve Built a Community to Help Others Do the Same.
A few years ago, I stumbled across a digital marketing course while scrolling Instagram. It promised to teach me everything I needed to start a digital business — and while I was skeptical, I was also hopeful. Money was tight, but I took a leap. The first course gave me the basics — funnels, domains, email… but something didn’t sit right. I realized I couldn’t turn around and sell that same system to other small business owners, especially those who didn’t have a tech background. So, I moved on. The next one? A total mess — confusing, scattered, and missing the heart. But I kept going.
Then finally, I found the right one. It gave me tools, strategy, and (most importantly) the mindset shift
I needed to believe I could do this. That course helped me build the business I have now — but even with all that training, I still felt alone figuring it all out.
That’s why I created the Golden Business Circle - a community built for people like me, like you. People who are smart, motivated, and ready to build… but just need someone to walk with them through the tech, the tools, and the tough days.
I now mentor small business owners every week through the Golden Business Circle — a safe, supportive space where we solve problems, simplify systems, and build strong digital foundations together.
I also offer training courses and 1:1 mentorship for those who want deeper guidance.
Whether you're turning a side hustle into something real, growing an existing business, or starting from scratch — I've been there. And I built this space so
you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
You’ve got this. And I’ve got you.
